Reviews
Visited a Family Barn Dance event, so take this review with a pinch of salt if you're not dancing with the kids.
The main venue is the large Kennedy Hall, with stage, surround seating, and of course room for dancing. This event was well-organised, with caller and musicians up on stage, two or three helpful staff milling around just in case, and (usually but not today), a cafe downstairs serving cold drinks to sweaty people.
The format for this event was about 90 minutes long, with each section lasting around 10 minutes, first starting with a detailed explanation of each dance, then the band joins in for the main thing. Now and again, a short break allowed some breathing space before we set off again.
The English Folk Dance and Song Society events here include concerts / gigs, but many participatory events from dancing to instrumental and singing groups.
Have also attended here for an evening comedy performance, which was crammed full. The place is accessible as far as I could tell, with a lift from street level to all floors.
The nearest tube is Camden Town on the Northern Line, about 10 minute's walk away. What's nearby? You're very close to Primrose Hill, Regent's Park and London Zoo.
Lovely venue primarily based around folk dancing and education, with a library.
Attended as I was part of a panel talk on film. The hall that’s available for hire is a room primarily set for dance. With large step seats all around.
Staff all seemed very helpful, with a nice cafe in the basement area.
Huge hall in the heart of Camden, great venue and wonderful events.
Traveling with hubs from the states and he saw the salsa dancing event on Facebook. Loved that they had plenty of seating and bar/cafe downstairs open during the evening. Music was good and people were delightful. Easy to get to and find as well.
Great venue ,lovely building ,good for big parties in the main hall. You can pay corkage on your own wines and Champagne. You are obliged to use their in house caterers. It gets busy so book early.
The very best place to research British folk dance, song, tunes, etc. Friendly and helpful staff
Great venue, very well run. I saw a solo musician play and the acoustics were very good. Good view from the seats and lovely bar and cage downstairs.
Gorgeous venue for events and parties! The main hall is perfect for dancing and classes, great floor and space in general. Also good acoustics and sound. Some smaller rooms in the basement a nice cafe with some food options
We went to see The Albion Band Christmas Concert on 15/12/22, never been there before, it's a great little venue, very cosy, lovely atmosphere, nice bar area downstairs selling food and drinks, thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Did a workshop in Trefusis room downstairs. A good space for dance but a bit funky. Cafe is basic and pleasant.
